YouTube University

This week, I went on an exciting YouTube Adventure and while I’ve always used YouTube for everything from learning to entertainment, this week gave me the chance to view the platform in a completely new light. It wasn’t just about watching videos for fun or finding a quick tutorial. This time it was about learning with intention, organizing meaningful content, and treating YouTube like a personalized classroom.

Welcome to my journey through YouTube University!

I’ve always been a YouTube fan, whether it’s watching lifestyle vlogs, quick recipe hacks, classroom activity ideas, or deep dives into new skills, YouTube has been my go-to search engine for “how to do literally anything.” Need to reset your Wi-Fi? YouTube. Trying to understand a new teaching strategy? YouTube. Want to laugh after a long day? YouTube got that too.

But this week, I wasn’t just casually scrolling. I took time to build structured playlists, reflect on what I’m consuming, and organize content that would help me grow both professionally and personally. It was actually really empowering to step back and see how much free, high-quality learning is right at our fingertips when we use YouTube with purpose.

During my exploration, I looked into various topics and made playlists for each. I believe these playlists contain useful, interesting, and educational videos that I can return to and expand upon later. Here's a look on how the adventure unfolded:

My Youtube University Focus: Brow Artistry

While I love learning about teaching strategies, I also used this assignment as an opportunity to learn something just for me. I’ve always been fascinated by beauty and brow artistry, so I created a playlist specifically on henna brows, ombre powder brows, and brow mapping.

My interest in brow artistry began in 2021 with an in-person ombre powder brows workshop. The class covered all of the technical skills needed in this field like understanding skin tones, symmetry, pigment depth, and how skin heals.

Sadly I had to stop practicing due to school and other things I had to do. But, this YouTube project made me want to learn more about brow artistry and take it seriously. I can't even deny the way I feel, seeing all those creators share what they know reignited my interest in brows. I plan to start back practicing my skills so that I can even try to make it a side job later on.

Brow Obsessed and Back at It! Thanks Youtube University!!

This week has shown me again that learning goes past school and books. The best information often comes from exploring things myself and getting advice from experts. Sites like YouTube can be helpful for growing both at work and as a person.Whether I’m prepping a lesson, trying something creative, or just learning something new for fun, I know I can find what I need and more at YouTube University.
